Class B

Prepare for heavy single vehicles and large buses.

Understand heavy straight trucks and buses, General Knowledge, Air Brakes, passenger endorsements, ELDT, 15-hour training, CLP and skills testing.

Typical Class B route

General Knowledge is required. Air Brakes is needed for air-brake vehicles. Passenger and School Bus applicants add the corresponding knowledge, training, certificate and skills requirements.

Class B to A upgrade

An upgrade from Class B to Class A is an ELDT-triggering event when the federal rule applies. The driver also takes the Class A combination knowledge and skills route.

Choose the test vehicle carefully

Vehicle equipment and configuration determine the license class and restrictions issued after the skills test.
